FARM OF HOPE SCHOOL

The wars that broke out in the Great lakes region since 1994, especially in DR Congo,  have caused what specialists of wars compare to be worse than the damages caused by the second world war. From human rights violation, to killing and genocide, the great lakes have been the circle of human auto destruction. That long-running crisis up to date has resulted in a huge number of deaths, great suffering and hardship, severe devastation, major population displacement, widespread criminality, arbitrary violence:

-         Thousands of children are left without one or both parents

-         Thousands of children have been forcefully recruited, abducted, and turned into killers.

-         Many armies and armed groups in the east DR Congo are predominantly comprised of children.

-          The region is home to some 5 million of the world’s 25 million internally displaced persons. Most live in camps, which are congested, unhygienic and lack basic services. Armed attacks on these camps are frequent.

-          Women and girls are particularly vulnerable in a region where simple daily chores of food preparation or gardening can imperil their lives, and expose them risk of sexual violence.

-         Rape increasingly is used as a weapon of war, to torture and subjugate women and tear apart families.

-         Young girls are used as object of business by their parents in forced marriages, forced pregnancy, prostitution etc…

It is to contribute to the eradication of the above picture that the Fondation Chirezi has decided to create the school called FARM OF HOPE to bring education free of charge to children, boys and girls first victims of the modern foolishness in Africa.

Children of the Farm of Hope

About the school

Farm of Hope is a School for orphans initiated in 2002. Following the needs in the surrounding villages, the school was obliged to accept register also vulnerable children whose parents are not able to pay the school fees and aged children who were used in battle or in streets.

The school started as a dream of Floribert Kazingufu under the trees. No one believed him when he started to recruit orphans. Children were studying under trees and were seating on stones collected from the Kiliba river. Teachers were young boys who finished their secondary school but had no job. Flory succeeded to convince them to work pro deo (for nothing) in order for them to contribute for the building of the nation and of the world. At the end of the month, they given an encouragement funds equivalent to 2 soaps. Today, the school has 600 children and new challenges are rising.

It is possible to educate all children of poor countries

Experiencing a new concept:  Free education to all children in the poor countries.

Flory is convinced that every child in world has the right to education and can be educated for free. This is what he is experimenting at the Farm of Hope. According to the goal of the United nations; it is important to educate all children especially put an accent at the girl. In 2011, Flory will publish a document on his findings about the method of free education to all children in poor countries.

Registration number

The school is a private school which is functioning under the FOCHI ministry of justice registration number  n° JUST G.S.112/S-KV/1454/2003 of 2003. But, as it is progressing the school needs to be also registered by the ministry of education. The committee is working on that.

Conclusion

As you could read, the Farm of Hope will be working in 3 activities in 2009:

-         Education

-         Health : We are working with a Dr Harry an homeopath doctor to start a mobile clinic at the clinic. The mobile clinic will use Homeopathic remedies. Dr  Harry have been able to visit and treat children at the school 2 times from 2008.

-         Income generation : We think that it is important that the school start its own income generating activities. The committee has been able to identify three activities: Farming, animal raising and public transport. About the transport it is a question of buying a mini bus and do public transport activities which can help get some money for the school.

NB: We are seriously concerned by the salary issue because as everywhere in the world, project such as education is a funds consuming project towards which not many donors give money, this is why we encourage the committee to continue envision income generating activities.  We hope that our friends will not be tired to allow us serve these kids. Please get involved! Any thing you send can create a difference. Contact us !!!
