Achievements
FOCHI has a range of several achievements since its creation:
a. Establishment of the school of the orphans called Farm of Hope in Kiliba
This school is educating free of charge more than 500 orphans. It is offering primary education and secondary. Soon it will start offering medical education in order to offer a quick job and career to orphans who will finish their education. We have opted to this because we found ourselves not able to help orphans up to the university.
We are proud to announce that Farm of Hope is the only school offering free education to orphans and other children living under difficult conditions in the whole country of DR Congo. Elsewhere, Parents are obliged to pay for the education of their children in DR Congo, since orphans have no parents we offer this life education (which is one of their fundamental rights) to those children.
To be able to continue do that we need to depend of external aid but also we will start soon income generation activities at the school to help us pay for the teachers and maintain the school.
Also, the coordinator and Founder of the school, P Floribert Kazinguf has conceived an concept to allow the school continue to educate free of charge orphans. This concept wants that, all orphans sign officially an agreement with the school to engage himself to teach free of charge to the school after his graduation in gratitude of his free education received at the School. This can allow the perpetration of the idea of education free of charge orphan at Farm of Hope.
b. Construction of 6 classes and administrative building thanks to its partner Focus on Education. Focus on education is a good dutch foundation which values and helps education children all over the World. It is co-directed by Jacques and Mary den Ridder. We thank them for their dedication.
c. Purchase of a transport vehicle for orphans by the MIVA Holland
d. To help with the demobilization of the children soldiers in 2004 in the territories of Uvira and Fizi. Focus on education has convinced Cordaid and other donors to help demobilized and reinsert more than 50 ex child soldiers in Uvira. We have also offered them skill training ( carpentry and sewing) and detraumatisation.
e. Establishment of Baraza of Peace, local forums of resolution of conflicts in communities. We have the ambition of continuing help local population to resolve their problems in the community thanks to the community. We have established the forums but we need donors who can help in funding work of those Baraza.
f. A Centre for detraumatisation and skills training of women victims of sexual violence has been a project started in Bukavu by Fondation Chirezi. Mrs Amina has been appointed to lead the center. Among other activities, it is offering Detraumatisation, Soap making, Sewing and family mediation.Those women are mainly displaced and fled violence perpetrated by Rwandan rebels in the territory of Walungu, kabare, etc…
g. Many other projects were realized in the past thanks to local and international donors…
