From October 12, FOCHI is conducting the internal and external evaluation of the integrity clubs.

The objective of the evaluation is to undertake a thorough analysis of project implementation in order to achieve a better understanding of what makes a successful project and thus help FOCHI and its partners determining their future strategies for integrity clubs.

This evaluation will also allow stakeholders to determine whether projects were implemented according to the project document and the expected results were achieved.

Let me share some quotes from the fields:

“We study in poorly constructed buildings while each student pays $10 per year for construction. Here we are around 380 students it makes $3,800 a year. That’s enough to build and equip classroom a year. Also there are other miscellaneous costs as SONAS (School Insurance) but there are students who fall ill, injured at school but they are not treated. And this money is paid to cover this. So as student we must take our responsibility as contributors in order to claim how all our money is used.” Said a student (anonymity).

“It was a pleasure to witness the achievements of the Integrity Clubs in health sector even many issues remain to us to fix. I have personally learn more about from them about corruption and their strategies to promote changes in their schools and communities.” said the Goma Health District Officer

A student said “this course helped me a lot to understand my role to play in the country. I understand that its not required to be only government agent to have responsibilities in this country. It comes to everyone. And my role is to monitor projects and ask implementing agents to account.”

Another said “here the corruption is rife among some teachers but not all. this course have awakened us how to resist that temptation from teachers. The only way to resist is to denounce to the authorities of the school. I attempt to convince my colleagues to do so. You know when a teacher asks you money to succeed, denounce him to school officials and others teachers, he will never ask again.”

We will share the full evaluation report when completed
